Thank you for your interest in the Mercy Health Muskegon Emergency Medicine Residency
OUR
story
We are a PGY 1-4 program accredited by the ACGME and AOA. and based in Muskegon, Michigan with 3 different sites between Muskegon and Grand Rapids. Our inaugural class graduated in 2018. Our 3 clinical sites offer a wide variety of exposure from rural to inner-city populations. We emphasize opportunities to treat critically ill patients through multiple ICU rotations and time divided between three ED’s with a total ER census well over 100,000 annual visits.
GO
green
Our residency program is strongly affiliated with Michigan State University’s College of Osteopathic Medicine Statewide Campus System providing significant benefits associated with a nationally renowned university.
OUR
campus
Our Mercy site located in Muskegon provides ample exposure to highly acute medical, cardiovascular and renal pathology. Our Hackley site is a level Trauma II center located in Muskegon Heights and also where we see most of our pediatric and OB/Gyn population. Without surgical residencies to compete for exposure, our residents have the rare opportunity to be the only participating residents in Trauma cases. Our Mercy Health St. Mary site is a Level II Trauma center and the the regional stroke center located in downtown Grand Rapids.
THE
lakeshore
Muskegon, Michigan is an economically diverse city along the shores of Lake Michigan and the area is a popular vacation destination with plenty of opportunity for culture and outdoor activities. It is 3 hours away from Detroit and Chicago. Residents enjoy the fact that Mercy Health is the singular hospital system in the immediate area. With this, you will have the opportunity to manage a very diverse population, with high acuity pathology.
